About this product:
- Screen legends Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins deliver sensational, Oscar-winning performances in this spellbinding thriller based on the bestselling novel by Thomas Harris (Red Dragon, Hannibal). A psychopath nicknamed Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine, Heat) is murdering women across the Midwest. Believing it takes one to know one, the FBI sends trainee Clarice Starling (Foster, The Accused) to interview a demented prisoner who may provide clues to the killer's actions. That prisoner is psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Hopkins, Nixon), a brilliant, diabolical cannibal who agrees to help Starling only if she'll feed his morbid curiosity with details of her own complicated life. As their relationship develops, Starling is forced to confront not only her own hidden demons, but also an evil so powerful that she may not have the courage—or strength—to stop it! This terrifying masterpiece co-starred Scott Glenn (The Challenge) and garnered five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Jonathan Demme (Philadelphia) and Best Adapted Screenplay for Ted Tally (Before and After), only the third film in history to sweep these five categories.

It used $7.27 in "promotional credit" for me so it was $13.06 before tax. That credit didn't show up until I added it to cart. Not sure if it mistakenly used my "digital credits" (which usually expire on me anyways) or if there is another targeted promotion. But, might be worth adding it to cart just to check, if you think $13 is a good price but $21 isn't.

Quote from CaptainSavealot : Man I guess the new normal is no bluray and no digital and high starting price. A) It's a Kino Lorber disc, which are mostly very well done (a few misses here and there), but it's a boutique label, so they typically aren't as heavily discounted as studio-direct discs. B) It comes with a Blu-ray disc as well. C) There is no digital copy, as is standard with boutique labels (Kino, Shout, Criterion). D) It's a phenomenal transfer You're buying this because it's the best possible current presentation of this movie (save Kaleidescape, perhaps, but that's arguable for many titles); in fact many consider it reference video quality and a standard for older film transfers to modern HDR/Dolby Vision formats.

Quote from tedbrogen : Isn't the Kino 4k release the one with the incorrect color timing for the first 20 minutes? And the Arrow release doesn't have that?

Really well-written, made and acted movie that I will never see a second time, due to its subject matter. And yet, I can watch the Godfather movies repeatedly and not flinch or be disturbed. To each their own, I suppose.
